Far South Community Development Corporation (FSCDC) is a 501(c)3 not- for-profit corporation, which was established 41 years ago in 1977 to foster economic development and eradicate blighted conditions through collaboration with public, private and non-profit organizations. FSCDC has an annual budget of $2 million and has 10 staff, working in divisions including: Workforce Development, Small Business Development and International Trade, Real Estate Development, and Housing and Debt Management Services. FSCDC will build on its role as project lead in Phase I of Jobs that Move Consortium that includes engaging and convening partners, supporting consortium building activities, leading business development and training enhancements, and project management.
FSCDC’s roles in community, economic development and housing involve leadership, service integration, grantee services, planning, and program management. FSCDC manages two Special Service Area Districts under a 10-year contract (providing over a million dollars per year; managed of the MMRP program for West Pullman that includes nearly two million dollars in housing rehab and technical assistance; prepared the 119th Street Corridor Plan with CMAP, one of the first regional plans in the Far Southside; manages the Illinois Small Business Development Center and International Trade Center for the region, in partnership with the SBA and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, providing information, confidential business guidance, training and other resources to start-up and existing small businesses.
Our commitment to the Far South Community and its development is evident by all of the programming and opportunities we currently offer to our constituents. Our organization in interested in serving as an Approved TA Provider as a Construction Project Manager because we have expertise in taking development projects from idea to completion and we are committed to working to make projects awarded funding a reality. Additionally, via our current work and programs in the community, we already have ties and connections that will ease the development process for the applicants whom we assist. Further, we have created a new entity Far South Contractors, LLC which has already begun the process of compiling and vetting architecture and construction service providers (“Contractors”) to assist our grantees in completing their projects.
